Lurgan College

Community Service

Serving the Community

“There's grace in being willing to know and hear others. This, for me, is how we become.” Michelle Obama

The Community Service Group at Lurgan College is a teacher-supervised, pupil-led initiative which seeks to recognise our role in respecting, uplifting and serving our local and global community. Bun sales, sponsored events, Harvest and Christmas Hampers for local senior citizens, bag packing and non-uniform days are just some of the ways in which we endeavour to help those less fortunate than themselves. Marie Curie, Bravehearts NI, the Trussell Trust Food Bank, Reach and Save the Children are just some of our most recent beneficiaries.

Each year pupils design their own programme of fundraising events for charities close to their heart. One particular charity which we are deeply proud to support is Fields of Life. Lurgan College sponsors two children, Bertha and Mercy, through this wonderful organisation and will continue to support them as they continue their education next year.

We welcome new sixth form members into the Community Service group every year.
