Lurgan College

House System

Every pupil who attends Lurgan College is assigned to one of the four Houses, which they represent throughout their time at school. Each House is named after the first four Headmasters of the College (Boulger, Cowan, Harper and Kirkpatrick) with the coloured stripes on pupils’ ties indicating to which House they belong. Pupils meet with their House teacher every morning and attend a weekly House Assembly led by their Head of House.

The House system:

  • makes an invaluable contribution to the provision of Pastoral Care and the development of the College's unique identity and ethos.
  • gives our pupils the opportunity to be rewarded for effort and achievement across a wide range of academic, sporting, cultural and physical activities.
  • develops teamwork and learning through experience as well as a sense of belonging to a House.
  • provides an enjoyable competitive programme of events over the school year culminating in the annual award of the Supreme House Trophy to the winning House.
