Lurgan College

Welcome to
Lurgan College

A very warm welcome toLurgan College

It  is my pleasure to welcome you to the Lurgan College school website. I trust that this will help give you a flavour of the unique ethos and genuine family atmosphere which we all enjoy every day.

At the College we place a premium on the development of the 'whole person' and whilst there is a strong emphasis on academic achievement, this is supported by our renowned, child-centred system of pastoral care. Our pupils also have the opportunity to avail of an extensive range of extra-curricular activities which help equip them with the qualities, skills and values upon which they will rely in later life. As a school community we constantly look to build on existing outstanding practice, striving to meet the challenge set out by our school motto Meliora Sequor - to follow better things.

As our website can only provide you with a brief snapshot of school life, I would like to cordially invite you to visit us and experience for yourself our warm, caring and vibrant ethos, which has served our community so well for the last 150 years.

  • I absolutely love Lurgan College. There is so much to do, both inside and outside the classroom, with many clubs that have really helped me settle in. I particularly enjoy music, rugby and cricket! The teachers have been incredible too, not only through their teaching but also their help with familiarising me with the school, they have really made an effort to get to know me. Whilst I am still really new, I already feel like a part of the school family.
    Alfie - Year 11
  • When I joined the College, I was apprehensive not only about settling into new surroundings but also the challenge of A level study. It became quickly apparent that I need not have worried. Even during the first few hours of my induction day I was struck by the genuine interest that everyone showed in getting to know me. As soon as I met my teachers it was clear that they were passionate about my success in the classroom but also outside of it. If you join Lurgan College in Sixth Form, as I did, expect to be pushed to being the very best you can be but in an environment where you feel cared for and a part of something really special.
    Eva - Year 13
  • The inspirational teachers at Lurgan College are part of the reason why I am currently completing a PGCE. As a pupil, I felt that Lurgan College had a welcoming family atmosphere, however, having worked as a student teacher in numerous schools, I now realise what a truly unique learning environment Lurgan College provides. It really is a very special place with incredible staff that provide support and encouragement you just don’t get anywhere else.
