A group of Year 14 A Level Home Economic pupils left the classroom to brave the cold December weather for a very special guided tour of the continental market.
As part of their A2 course the pupils who were studying Ethical Food Choice had the opportunity to learn firsthand about organic and fair-trade produce, as well as sampling both local and seasonal specialties.
As the snow began to fall the pupils eagerly tucked into delicious produce from around Europe from, Dutch “Profitjes” (mini pancakes) and French “Tartiflette” (a delicious dish of potatoes, reblochon cheese, cream and lardons) to Polish “Sauerkraut” and Belgium Macaroons. They also had the opportunity to learn about the sourcing of the Kangaroo and Wild Boar burgers before experiencing their very unique taste!
